Published purpose
The project enhances municipal environmental management practices and the quality of life of the communities in the coastal zone of south-east Cuba. The university partners are contributing to national policy and practices on implementation of local integrated coastal zone management (ICZM) through their enhanced capacity to deliver gender-equitable ICZM education and training activities, especially in rural areas. Municipal governments are undertaking ICZM to resolve local coastal and environmental problems based on integrated management strategies. Education and training in ICZM and environmental management is also being provided at the local level in order to ensure the involvement of women and youth participants.
