Published purpose
This initiative aims to improve the quality of life of impoverished children and youth aged 5 to 24. The project is providing basic education, agricultural, information technology and life skills training that includes HIV/AIDS awareness. It is also providing children and youth with post-conflict psychosocial counseling, employment opportunities, job finding services and development-oriented sports programs. All these programs and services are being delivered by a collaborative network formed by community-based organizations (CBOs) such as Kids Action Sierra Leone, the Association for Children in Need (ACN) and Kids Involved in Dynamic Sports (KIDS). This project also seeks to motivate partner organizations and beneficiaries to promote gender equality. As a result, at least 50% of the beneficiaries are girls and young women. In addition, extensive campaigns are being carried out to sensitize communities about the importance and advantages of giving women equal access to basic education, and technical and vocational training.
