Published purpose

The Disabled Peoples' International (DPI) project aims to positively influence the lives of people with disabilities in developing countries, more specifically in five CIDA Countries of Focus that have ratified the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD): Tanzania, Bangladesh, Peru, the Caribbean (Jamaica) and Ukraine. The project's objectives include: 1) strengthening the national and international dialogue on policy, legal, institutional, social, and economical issues that affect people with disabilities; and 2) strengthening the capacity of DPI members to promote awareness and enforcement of the CRPD and to use the reporting requirements under the CRPD to promote the rights of people with disabilities. The project helps to increase awareness, protection and enforcement of the rights of people with disabilities and enhance their inclusion and access to services.
