Published purpose

This project aims to improve the resilience of Palestinian women, men and children, by improving access to quality health services for 8,600 children with chronic diseases and special needs. Some project activities include: (i) providing medical services and home visits; (ii) organizing workshops for parents and community members to raise their awareness and improve their understanding of the psychosocial and medical needs of children with chronic diseases and special needs; (iii) providing training on health and nutrition, specifically targeting mothers and their children; and (iv) protecting the poorest children and their families, by supporting emergency preparedness, providing safe and protected areas for children, and delivering non-food items, such as bedding or clothing, in response to immediate needs. This project is one of over 140 projects that make up the United Nations' 2013 Consolidated Appeal Process (CAP) for the West Bank and Gaza. The 2013 CAP, worth over US$374 million, allows the international community to help mitigate the worst effects of the ongoing crisis for Palestinian civilians. Delivered through a coordinated approach, the CAP provides humanitarian assistance in the essential areas of food, water, health, and nutrition and by increasing the protection of civilians.
