Published purpose

This project aims to strengthen the resilience of Commonwealth member countries that are particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change and to support sustainable development based on their national mitigation and adaptation strategies and plans. The project enables the Commonwealth Climate Finance Access Hub to assist member countries to improve the policy environment for inclusive climate action and to support the submission of project proposals to climate funds. These proposals integrate gender equality and youth inclusiveness principles, as well as health impact assessments, to ensure that they positively impact vulnerable and marginalized populations. Project activities include: (1) training key national and regional stakeholders in climate finance, including gender mainstreaming, youth inclusiveness and the health-climate nexus; (2) strengthening climate-related policies, programmes and initiatives; (3) developing and submitting climate adaptation and mitigation project proposals for funding; and (4) developing and sharing training manuals, methodologies and approaches, good practices, and lessons learned on climate finance projects and policy development.
