Published purpose

The Technical Assistance Partnership – Government of Canada project helps Federal Judicial Affairs (FJA) Canada to deploy judges and experts specializing in court administration and judicial system management. The project aims to strengthen the capacities of national government entities responsible for judicial systems in countries eligible for official development assistance (ODA). The project also aims to improve the well-being of the poorest, most marginalized, and vulnerable populations by aligning with Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy (FIAP) while contributing to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Project activities include: (1) addressing the differentiated needs of women and men through gender-sensitive policies and services in the justice sector; (2) increasing access to justice for women and girls; (3) strengthening legal systems and the implementation of reforms that eliminate all forms of discrimination against women and girls; (4) supporting the protection of women’s rights defenders; (5) raising Canadians’ awareness of international development issues, including Canada’s SDGs and FIAP, through public engagement activities; and (6) organizing technical visits to Canada. The project seeks to support around 15 technical assistance initiatives over five years.
