Published purpose

The organization will process, preserve and digitize fonds of selected Alpine Club of Canada members, to increase awareness and access to the collection, and build capacity within the organization. The fonds come from members over the Club's 114 years of existence as a national mountaineering organization. They provide context and highlight aspects of members’ personal and professional lives, to complement official club records. They contain rare and difficult-to-access media, such as diaries, 35-mm slide transparencies, photo albums, films and sound recordings. Processing these collections and digitizing analog records will increase access for researchers, preserve original materials, and provide opportunities for exhibitions, programming and scholarships.
