Published purpose
This project seeks to increase the capacity of Uzbekistan to detect and deter the smuggling of nuclear or radiological materials. Specifically, it supports Uzbekistan’s Border Guard Service in securing the Uzbek-Afghan border and adjacent Turkmenistan and Tajikistan border areas. Project activities include: (1) providing radiation detection, communication, patrol and surveillance equipment to Uzbekistan’s Border Guard Service; and (2) providing related operational and maintenance training on the equipment.
