Published purpose
Liquid condensate was discovered beneath the plant site in August 1990, during the installation of a booster compressor drain tank. The condensate was understood to originate from the disposal of waste liquids from the gas refrigeration/dehydration building into a culvert well. The condensate plume extends over an area of approximately 1 hectare to a depth of 8 m. Depths to groundwater range from approximately 3.5 m bgs to 6.0 m bgs, with an average depth of 4.6 m. The groundwater flow direction is typically south, with a southeasterly component. The hydraulic gradient is approximately 0.1 m/m. There has been no indication of condensate moving off site. The project is to remediate the condensate.
