Published purpose

Surface Solutions Inc. (SSI) has created the design concept for a system to measure and data log methane emissions from gas well surface casing vents, well bore, and tanks. InnoTech Alberta (IA) has been asked to provide support in the innovative design, construction, and validation of a pilot scale system based on SSI’s concept. Existing AER regulations require that well head vent monitoring be done but reference antiquated technology that involves counting the bubbles produced by a submerged vent hose. Given current interest (federal and provincial) in mitigating greenhouse gas emissions, there exists a significant opportunity to advance technology in this area where a robust and digitized results help the regulators audit process.
