Published purpose

This project is a comprehensive study of Toronto’s urban forest using state of the art technology, sound scientific methodologies and industry standard principles. The objectives of the project are to: describe current composition, structure and distribution of Toronto’s urban forest; quantify the ecological services and benefits provided by the urban forest; identify opportunities for increasing sustainable tree cover; compare and evaluate current conditions and urban forest attributes to the baseline conditions from 2008 to help measure progress toward achievement of the City’s urban forestry goals and objectives. In order to achieve these objectives, an urban forest assessment will be undertaken during the summer of 2018.
