Published purpose
Natural Insect Control (NIC) would like to develop a rearing system for Galleria mellonella for use as a host in the mass rearing of bio-controls as well as a commercial food source for the bird, reptile, amphibian and fishing industries. This project will increase NIC’s knowledge significantly whilst offering expense management of the highest costing variable for NIC’s beneficial nematode production. This IRAP will put NIC in a position to explore new target markets such as feeder insects for birds, amphibian, reptilian and the fishing industries increasing our overall companies’ competitiveness. With a strong, organic, rearing system in places NIC is in a position to explore new markets relative to insects as food for future projects
