Published purpose
Latin America (countries like Brazil and Chile) offers opportunities for Canadian companies with technologies, products, and services that might be applicable and transferable to the mining sector of the region. An example of this opportunity are some technologies currently being used in the environmental space of the oil sands operations in Alberta that may have an application in the mining sector of Latin America. The objective of this project is building the local capacity for Canadian SMEs in Latin America by: 1. Assessing the export readiness of Canadian SMEs for entry & accessibility into the Latin America mining sector. 2. Using information from existing resources, such as the Trade Commissioner Service (TCS), Export Development Canada (EDC), Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) etc., to generate engagement with Latin American potential technology partners and collaborators, and market leads through in-country interactions with prospective clients & mining stakeholders.
