Published purpose
The X-Band Radar Wave Prediction project utilizes standard marine X-band radar to measure the wave field a time T = 0 seconds, and then Rutter Inc. proprietary Wave Prediction algorithms are applied to ‘propagate’ the measured wave field at T = 0 seconds to a future time, i.e. T + 30 seconds or T + 60 seconds. This processing occurs in real-time, i.e. a new result is generated with every rotation of the radar antenna. Propagated wave information may be used as input to various control systems employed in the marine environment, such as Helideck Landing Systems, Vessel Hull Response Modelling Systems or Dynamic Position Systems, to name just a few examples.
