Published purpose

Carbon Upcycling Technologies is working to develop a large-scale prototype molten carbonate electrolysis cell (MCEC) to produce carbon nanomaterials and oxygen from CO2 using a low-cost molten salt system, capable of semi-continuous operation in a field setting with a point source emission. The MCEC prototype will be developed simultaneously with further expansion of CUT's primary process, culminating in a field demonstration of both technologies at the ACCTC (Alberta Carbon Conversion Technology Center) in Winter 2020.
