Published purpose
This project will develop a new indoor localization algorithm that further augments our primary value proposition of accurate indoor location and leverages IP previously developed as a result of IRAP supported projects. This algorithm will address fundamental accuracy and stability weaknesses in existing localization techniques based on absolute signal strengths (such as trilateration), while eliminating the logistical and practical shortcomings of newer techniques based on relative signal strengths. Improved accuracy and stability for Wifi-based localization techniques is key to enabling broadly available indoor location services on top of existing IT infrastructure.
