Published purpose
Three chain measurements are generally required for regulatory compliance: link length, inter-grip length and sidebar diameter. At present, Welaptega’s Chain Measurement System (CMSv2.1) and Subsea Caliper are separately required for these measurements. The current CMSv2.1 tool requires a Work Class ROV (WCROV) for tool placement, while the Subsea Caliper can be deployed using a smaller Inspection Class ROV (ICROV). ICROVs are able to be operated from floating production installations rather than from separate, dedicated vessels with WCROVs. The ability for client to perform inspection activities using ICROVs launched from an installation saves in excess of $100,000 USD per day vs. WCROV vessels.
