Published purpose
The retina is easily affected by neurological disorders, as well as eye-health issues such as glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. As a result, several disorders can cause visible changes to various features of the retina. Images taken of the retina can be of poor quality for several reasons, including motion and imaging artifacts, which can hinder the ability to identify and diagnose health problems. Aurteen Inc. is developing software that will automatically identify image-quality issues and attempt to correct them, thereby improving ophthalmologists’ ability to diagnose using retinal images. The results of such analysis are better improved and assessed by either the specialist or computer-aided diagnostic software.
