Published purpose
A major challenge facing the agricultural industry, and in particular greenhouse and indoor growers, is the impact pathogens have on crop yield, both quantity and quality. Experts assess the average crop loss at over 20% for the five major crops globally (wheat, rice, maize, potato and soybean). The economic impact caused by pathogens is especially deep in the cannabis industry where the value of the crop is the highest. This project will investigate the effectiveness of a novel application of blue light (405 nm) for managing pathogens. The Pathogen Control Light (PCL) has the potential to revolutionize how cultivators control pathogens in greenhouse and indoor facilities.
