Published purpose
The JVPHome is a medical device enabling remote monitoring of heart failure patients following discharge from hospital. Heart failure is a life-threatening disorder with ~ 25% of patients being readmitted to hospital within 30 days following initial discharge. The JVPHome promises to dramatically reduce these readmissions by enabling clinicians to remotely visualize the jugular venous pressure (JVP; neck vein height) and adjust medications to prevent recurrent heart failure. Although the JVP can be visually identified, its identification remains a challenge. The Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted more than ever the importance of effective home monitoring solutions for patients with chronic diseases such as congestive heart failure.
