Published purpose
The project aims to increase the recycling efficiency of asphalt shingle by applying the recycled asphalt shingles (“RAS”) as a supplement for gravel road. The shingles are first ground and screened to produce the appropriate particle size, then mixed with gravel. These aggregates are typically used to cover rural, unpaved roads. The use of RAS for gravel road may have the following benefits: • Preservation of landfill space by diverting asphalt shingle waste, • Improve the stabilization of gravel road by reducing corrugation, • Control dust generation, • Reduce vehicle noise, and • Require less road maintenance.
