Published purpose
Develop a novel ML (machine learning) approach to help monitor and predict the performance of industrial centrifugal pumps. Pumped systems account for more than 20% of electrical energy consumption; and it is vital to understand its performance to optimize their connected industrial systems and reduce GHG emissions With our domain knowledge, we have identified a gap in large scale pipelines to monitor their centrifugal pumps and optimize their operations as equipment testing typically happens during initial factory acceptance and after equipment failure. Pump performance is not actively monitored during its life cycle, which over time, can lead to unnoticed degradation and unplanned outages.
