Published purpose

A resilient, fluid and safe road freight transport system is essential for sustaining and growing the industry sectors that drive the economy of Canada's prairie and northern regions. The road networks in Canada are expected to serve the demand for truck transportation in widely varying geographic and climatic conditions, and are prone to risks and hazards that can disrupt supply chain fluidity. The research Project has two main goals: (1) Producing uniquely Canadian logistics data sets through the deployment of a leading-edge mobile truck traffic and road-weather monitoring facility, and (2) developing and applying a novel methodological framework to evaluate the impact of disruptions due to risk hazards on the performance of the road freight transport network and its supporting infrastructure.
