Published purpose

Ice situation identification is critical for safe in-ice operation such as shipping and oil drilling in arctic ocean. However, current sensing technologies do not provide a holistic characterization of ice situation (e.g., concentration, thickness, age of the ice). This project will develop data fusion algorithms that can be merged to a sustainable platform capable to characterize the ice situation from multi-sensor measurements. This project will allow improvement of the safety of navigation in ice, and benefit communities relying on the corresponding logistics.
