Published purpose
The firm has patent-pending technology that makes it possible to identify intoxicated persons from a thermographic image of their face. For practical applications, the face will be part of an image that contains background items and other faces giving thermal returns. This background “clutter” must be identified and removed, and the subject’s face isolated before the analysis and subsequent determination of intoxication status can begin. The background clutter is to be expected in real world application settings. Therefore, it must be addressed before the commercial benefits of the intoxication detection can be realized. The firm proposes to use various machine learning techniques to implement the required functionality.
