Published purpose

MGA Engineering Inc. proposes to undertake an R&D program to advance mechanical and algorithmic methods related to controlling the behaviour of land-based ship loaders located in regions prone to severe seismic events. These methods will aim at quantifying the engineering criteria and control functions to design 1) new shiploaders able preserve their operational readiness after such events; 2) retrofit existing shiploaders to achieve this operational readiness, post-even; and 3) develop the applicable design criteria that are not addressed by the current crop of accepted design standards such as ISO 5049, and ASCE 7. A summary presentation of the project is detailed in Annex A.
