Published purpose

This project focuses on the (i) development of green processes (low energy intensity, no or little waste, and no toxic chemical use) to extract value added products from shellfish residues, specifically mussel and shrimp; (ii) characterization of products for applications (NRC and MUN labs); (iii) produce material for product testing at the Ocean Science Centre (OSC) and NRC laboratory to inform further process optimization, and; (iv) biomaterial development from solids (mussel shells chitin/mineral).
