Neurolytixs Inc. has determined that distinct plasma metabolic alterations occur following concussion; glycerophosphocholines (GPC) showed significant decrease in adolescent athletes and four species in particular showed excellent discrimination between concussed and control subjects. Routinely and affordably quantifying these GPCs in plasma can establish a personalized baseline metabolite profile, aid in diagnosing a concussion, and monitor said individuals for safe return to play. Technical Project #1 (approximately 4 months): Optimization of biomarker collection and extraction via dried plasma spot (DPS). Technical Project #2 (approximately 6 months): Optimization of biomarker measurement using mass spectrometry (MS).
