Published purpose

A novel 6DOF Compliant Force/Torque Sensor (OFS) has been developed by MAE Robotics Inc. with early prototype completed in 2022. This project aims to characterize the behaviour of the optical transducer units (OTU) used inside the OFS system and to use the results to achieve an optimized next generation sensor OFS 2.0, with higher sensitivity, robustness, and structural simplicity. The project also aims to develop the custom high-precision automated testing equipment for transducers and sensors developed at MAE Robotics. The resulting technology and knowledge will place MAE in a strong position to further its commercialization activities as well application case studies with lead users.
