The proposed project addresses a major barrier to incorporating beneficial probiotic bacteria more widely into animal feed products, which is their ability to survive sterilization conditions during manufacturing. Project aims to develop product specific encapsulation formulations to increase heat and/or pressure tolerance of probiotic bacteria during industrial manufacturing conditions.
