Published purpose
Bioplastics development has been ongoing for quite some time and as Canada becomes more ecologically conscious about the time as well as the environmental impacts of garbage / land fill break down, legislation is being passed to limit or eliminate single use plastics. Biopolymers embrace the circular economy ideology (no waste). Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) are relative newcomers to the biopolymer availability arena and typically their feedstocks being organic give them specific advantages over petroleum based plastics such as being biodegradeable, biocompatible, and taking significantly less time to decompose. The focus of this project is the to determine the molding processing / tooling configurations of a very specific PHA Compound.
