Published purpose
Granville Biomedical has identified an international market opportunity to develop an anatomical uterus model for the purpose of demonstrating and educating health care providers and patients in the measurement, fitting, placement, insertion, and removal of custom pessaries. Pessaries are prosthetic devices that are inserted into the vaginal canal to address conditions such as urinary incontinence or pelvic organ prolapse. Such devices are typically prescribed and fitted by a clinician; however technology has advanced to provide opportunities for the 3D printing of biocompatible custom pessary designs that are unique to the individual based on their specific anatomy. Currently there are no known models or methods for accurate clinical training or patient education surrounding the demonstration, fitting, or placement of these pessaries within women’s health. This project is designed to provide such a model.
