Published purpose

Oceans Ltd is currently developing an Iceberg profiling system to collect data using a submersible remote sonar unit connected to a topside or “deck” control unit using a power/communications cable. Both the remote and topside units are controlled by small, ”Raspberry Pi” Single Board Computers. The collected data is later processed on a Windows based PC using the Iceberg Profiling Software, to produce 3D models of the profiled icebergs. In this project, the objective is to port the system software of the Topside or “Deck” unit to an updated hardware platform consisting of a ruggedized Windows PC. This will improve the performance of the system and allow further enhancements to the data collection system.
