Published purpose

Adipic acid is the main building block of high-performance polymer Nylon 6,6 ($30 billion market), globally, chemical production of adipic acid from oil releases over 60 million tons/year of greenhouse gases (N2O+CO2). At OzoneBio, our goal is to produce bio-adipic acid using wood/agricultural waste-derived feedstocks as the main raw material. In our workflow, we utilize the “Zombie cell” bio-catalysis to transform wood-derived aromatics into adipic acid. The “Zombie cell” approach allows the transformation of challenging renewable feedstocks to adipic acid avoiding the limitations associated with live cell fermentation and high CAPEX for the facilities.
