Published purpose
LZC is developing a unique high-altitude RPAS (Gitpo) to replace single-use radiosondes to enhance the type & quality of weather & climate data collected by global WMO operations, & to eliminate a major source of environmental e-waste, polluting lakes, rivers, oceans, & forests around the world. A key element of this complex air vehicle & its integrated systems is the development of advanced flight control guidance software powered by AI. The real-time employment of Machine Learning (ML) to exploit measured weather data & wind patterns during the drone's ascent to over 100K feet while tethered to the balloon will optimize the return flight to either its original launch or alternate collection point (free-flight descent speed > Mach 1.0).
