Published purpose

This project proposes a completely new technology for analysis of fluorine and fluorinated compounds with high accuracy and reliability using the first-ever compact, hybrid ICP-MS. Fluorine plays a critical role in various industrial, medicinal, and everyday applications. But there are currently no universal methods for quantification of fluorinated compounds. Our technology creates an opportunity for the first time to investigate the possibility of analyzing fluorine with high sensitivity at concentrations relevant to pharmaceutical, environmental, agrochemical, and food testing. This technology turns Kimia to a worldwide leader and contributes to Canada's economy through the production, sale, and export of high-tech instruments.
