Published purpose
The municipality will manage and operate a virtual power plant (VPP) challenge to SMEs that offer a solution that will allow for complete monitoring, feedback, and management of their different electrical grid power supply technologies (wind, solar, battery, etc). The VPP project aims to revolutionize how the municipality manages and optimizes its energy resources by integrating various distributed energy resources (DERs) such as solar panels, wind turbines, battery storage systems, smart meters and customer demand response mechanisms into a cohesive and highly efficient virtual power system. Solutions may include simulations that can be run using historical and real-time data on energy production and consumption. Solutions may also include advanced predictive analytics and machine learning algorithms to forecast demand and supply, allowing the VPP to make pre-emptive adjustments to reduce GHGs and improve overall efficiency.
