Published purpose

The project focuses on supporting Northern Ontario's agriculture and agri-food industries through a series of applied research initiatives, including: 1) Controlled environment studies, phenotyping, seed germination trials, nutrient response experiments, stress testing, pest and disease resistance studies, integrated pest management trials, and hydroponics studies. 2) Genomics and transcriptomics sequencing and analysis of plant and seed varieties or assessing impacts on plants and seed varieties due to extraneous factors (application of biostimulants, climate conditions). 3) Assessment of biodiversity and species using genomics methodology- this could include fungal, insect, and/or plant varieties. This is an equal partnership between College Boreal of Sudbury ON and Canadore College of North Bay ON, with each organization lending its inhouse expertise and facilities.
