Published purpose
This project aims to develop the AVIRT™ test, a rapid, portable diagnostic tool for avian influenza A detection using an isothermal method. By exploring DASL and LAMP platforms, we will identify the optimal approach for amplification and detection, focusing on common subtypes H5, H7, and H9. Designed for on-site use in farm settings, the AVIRT™ test minimizes delays associated with sample transport and laboratory processing. This innovation is expected to become a critical tool in managing outbreaks of A(H5N1), particularly highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) and mitigating economic losses in the farming sector and addressing potential human health threats by enabling rapid detection, prompt reporting, and timely intervention.
