Red Leaf Pulp

Published purpose

Red Leaf Pulp (RLP) is developing a first-of-its-kind facility in Saskatchewan that will transform waste wheat straw into a renewable fibre that can be used in conventional paper and packaging products to displace plastic and polystyrene. RLP has developed a novel non-wood pulping process that will be scalable and provide enhanced utilization of an abundant and readily available natural resource. RLP’s proprietary process will create a circular and sustainable business model by establishing a lower carbon pathway for pulp production while creating renewable energy for harvesting and manufacturing requirements from it’s by-products. The facility will require no change in existing land use and will maintain biodiversity and support the existing food chain. The project will provide social, economic, and environmental value to the Prairies and develop Canada’s engineering and technology expertise.
