Published purpose
This Project will develop an innovative process for extracting nickel from nickel sulphide concentrates, produce high-purity mixed hydroxide precipitate (MHP) at pilot scale, and synthesize precursor cathode active material (pCAM) and cathode active material (CAM) for NMC811 lithium-ion batteries from nickel sulphate solutions. The expected process flow will convert the nickel sulphide concentrate into MHP, which will then be further purified to produce nickel sulphate solutions, which will be used to synthesize pCAM and CAM for EV industries. The electrochemical performance of the resulting CAM and pCAM will be validated using coin cells and pouch cells.
