Published purpose

The construction industry struggles with optimizing efficiency, cost, and quality, often facing budget overruns and delays with traditional methods. Off-site modular construction promises streamlined processes and better quality control but is underutilized due to limited data-driven studies. Developers spend significant time assessing its benefits and challenges. This Project seeks to address these issues by gathering comprehensive data from modular projects by the New Brunswick Housing Corporation and private companies in New Brunswick. Key data points—productivity, cost, schedule, quality, safety, and sustainability—will be analyzed collaboratively by the University of New Brunswick and the NRC, stored in a cloud database, and used to establish key performance indicators for modular construction. The Project aims to identify and resolve bottlenecks in offsite construction. Deliverables include KPI analysis, comparison reports, and a database, aiding developers in making informed decisions and adopting efficient methods. The Project will also produce academic and industry engagement materials.
