Published purpose

This project will explore the potential for AI to support users of the Paraglide system. The goal is to investigate how AI can analyze posture-related data alongside other health and environmental factors to predict the risk of developing pressure ulcers (also known as skin ulcers or bedsores). Pressure ulcers are a serious health risk for individuals with limited mobility. They can result from sustained pressure on the skin due to prolonged sitting in one position. While Paraglide already tracks how often a user shifts their posture, this project aims to explore how that data can be combined with other known risk factors (age, weight, meds) in an effort to automate and update reposition notifications to mitigate the risk of ulcers.
