Published purpose
The Council of Canadian Academies (CCA), in collaboration with the NRC, will complete an in-depth evidence-based assessment of the state of adoption and use of technologies for aging in place in Canada. Working with the NRC to shape the main questions summarizing the topic to examine, CCA will convene a multidisciplinary panel to produce an evidence-based consensus report on effective ways to increase the adoption and use of technologies that support aging in place. The assessment will examine the types of technologies used by older adults, caregivers, and health-care providers, and will assess policies and programs that can enable broader, more equitable uptake. The analysis will focus on practical supports such as regulations, standards, incentives, and awareness initiatives that influence adoption and use. The resulting outputs will inform all Aging in Place technology developers as well as decision makers on implementation pathways for integration, spread and scale.
