Published purpose
The Project explores how quantum computing can improve the analysis and safe operation of complex systems that evolve over time, such as robots, energy networks, and physical or biological processes. Classical computing methods often struggle to predict long-term behaviour in large systems or to provide reliable guarantees of safety and stability. The Project will develop quantum-based techniques to study both linear and nonlinear systems, determine their long-term behaviour, and identify safe operating conditions. The goal is not only to accelerate computation but also to create rigorous methods to certify stability and safety over long horizons. The Project focuses on three themes: quantum techniques for linear models, quantum approaches for nonlinear systems, and quantum methods for verifying safety and stability. Expected outcomes include prototype algorithms, open-source tools, research publications, and the training of highly qualified personnel, strengthening Canada’s leadership in quantum technologies and advanced system analysis.
