Published purpose

The objective of the Project is to provide immediate assistance to provincial Canadian wildfire agencies who are requesting international assistance of highly qualified wildland firefighting personnel. This Project will support the facilitation of charter aircraft as well as providing financial support to cover the costs of mandatory hotel quarantine requirements. The Proponent, the Province of British Columbia, the Province of Ontario and the Australasian Fire and Emergency Service Authorities Council (the Australian and New Zealand equivalent of the Proponent), New South Wales and Western Australia have finalized an arrangement through which 60 Australian personnel will be deploying to Canada (British Columbia and Ontario). The Proponent has arranged a chartered mixed cargo flight that will transport the personnel through Vancouver International Airport to their ultimate destinations within Canada.
