Objet publié
This project aims to increase climate change adaptation of coffee farmers, mostly indigenous women, working in the coffee value chain in the Philippines. The Agsama Kape (Together for Coffee) project seeks to implement climate-smart nature-based farming solutions to benefit biodiversity, strengthen cooperative performance in support of climate resilience, and increase indigenous women’s participation in decision-making related to climate change adaptation and biodiversity conservation. Project activities include: (1) providing training to coffee farmers, on adopting sustainable climate-smart and nature-based coffee farming solutions; (2) strengthening the organizational capacity of cooperatives to provide tailored products and services based on indigenous women coffee farmers’ needs; and (3) addressing barriers that restrict indigenous women coffee farmers’ participation in decisions related to climate change and biodiversity conservation and the disproportionate burden of unpaid care work. The project aims to directly benefit 4,000 coffee farmers, mainly indigenous women, and indirectly benefit 150,000 members of coffee cooperatives and local communities.
