The Humanitarian Thematic Fund (HTF) is a global pooled fund managed by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to support a timely response to unforeseen or emerging crises, and to underfunded emergencies. With Global Affairs Canada’s support, the HTF allows UNFPA and its local partners to deliver lifesaving sexual and reproductive health programming in humanitarian settings as the need arises. Project activities include: (1) providing humanitarian programming that supports reproductive health, maternal health, family planning, abortion, and post-abortion care, and sexual and gender-based violence prevention and response; (2) procuring and distributing medical and non-medical equipment and medical supplies; (3) providing surge deployment of frontline and support staff; and (4) providing technical support in humanitarian action and coordination.
