This project aims to reduce the threat of explosive ordnance contamination to civilians and facilitate humanitarian access in Sudan. Project activities include: (1) delivering explosive ordnance risk education to civilians at risk of conflict, including internally displaced persons, refugees and humanitarian workers; (2) providing mine action technical analysis and advice to humanitarian operators on explosive hazard threats to enable them to continue humanitarian operations in areas impacted by conflict; (3) deploying survey and clearance teams to rapidly respond to and clear explosive ordnance hazards, making land and critical infrastructure safe from explosive threats and facilitating free and safe movement; (4) assisting survivors of explosive ordnance accidents by developing a national victim assistance strategy and providing small-scale grants; and (5) coordinating mine action activities across Sudan and promoting information sharing across the humanitarian sector.
