September 2025 – The changing nature of conflicts worldwide resulted in unprecedented humanitarian needs. This poses unique safety and security challenges for humanitarian organizations delivering assistance to vulnerable populations, despite international humanitarian law’s protections. Conflicts worldwide result in countless and often deliberate attacks on medical and humanitarian personnel. More than ever before, frontline humanitarian workers and non-governmental organizations require free and up-to-date information, analysis and advice. This supports informed decision-making, enables humanitarian access, and helps them serve populations most in need. With Global Affairs Canada’s support, International non-governmental organization Safety Organisation (INSO) helps humanitarian organizations fulfill their mandates safely by providing timely information and assistance to reduce security risks. Project activities include: (1) providing 24/7 safety alerts and analysis to non-governmental organization (NGOs) operating in high-risk areas; (2) offering security briefings to NGO staff to ensure preparedness in crisis contexts; and (3) facilitating interagency coordination to improve collaboration and response in conflict zones. The project primarily benefits international non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and their staff, particularly those working in conflict zones, who rely on accurate safety information to carry out their operations and deliver aid effectively.
